What is your earliest memory of classical music?
When I was 17 years old, I entered my first music school called “Batuta,” and there I performed and saw my first symphonic concert. I remember that we played Colombian music adapted for orchestral format.
How did you hear about TŌN? What inspired you to apply?
I found out about TŌN through some Colombian friends who are now in their second year. They told me it was a great opportunity to expand my orchestral knowledge as a musician. Now that I’m here, I realize it’s a spectacular space filled with musical learning.
Is there a person or people you most respect in your field and why?
The people I admire the most are my parents. Despite the difficult and challenging life they had, they gave my brother and me the best they could. They provided us with a high-quality education and, most importantly, instilled in us strong values.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing?
I wanted to be a pilot for interdepartmental small planes, where they transported bananas, corn, and other various products.
