What made you decide to become a musician? Was there a particular performance or person that influenced your decision?

The reason why I wanted to become a musician was because I saw how music could move and bring people together. Sharing music with audiences and meeting other musicians are a great enjoyment for me.

How did you hear about TŌN? What inspired you to apply?

I heard about TŌN from my colleagues and they described it as a great program for anyone that is aspiring to work as an orchestra musician.

How would you like to see orchestra concerts evolve in the future?

I don’t have any specific insight into this subject but I would like to see how orchestras evolve in how they engage audiences and integrate further into the societal landscape.

What is the most memorable performance you ever had?

My most memorable performance was one that I had at the Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University. It was a community concert on Valentine’s Day, and many audience members came up to me afterwards to ask when my next performance will be. It was a very heartwarming experience for me as a musician.

Can you share any memorable onstage mishaps?

When I was in my early teens, I was the concertmaster of a youth orchestra and I dropped my bow during the concert. I was pretty shaken up for the rest of my time there.

Do you have a favorite non-classical musician or band?

I enjoy listening to the K-pop band Jannabi. I also love singers like John Denver and Elton John.

If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing?

If I was not in music, I would have liked to be a baker or to open a cafe.

What advice would you give your younger self or anyone starting out?

I would say that the thing that helped me the most is consistent practicing over cramming.
