What is your earliest memory of classical music?
Skipping around radio stations and stumbling on the Beethoven Septet, Op. 20, in elementary school
Who is your biggest inspiration?
Cynthia Meyers, my teacher. No one else has a sound like hers. I blame her for making me fall in love with piccolo!
If you could play another instrument, what would it be?
Clarinet. They can pretty much do anything musically possible and have the best parts written for them by the best composers.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing?
Surgery
Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us
I was a competitive Mario Kart Wii player in high school, featured on top 10 regional time trials in Japan.
Piece of advice for a young classical musician
