What is your earliest memory of music?

My older brother playing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” on the piano

Was there a teacher who was particularly impactful/helpful? What made this instructor stand out?

I was lacking confidence in my playing and struggled with how to practice. During that time I met Donald Palma, my bass teacher at NEC, who shared many stories and taught me practical practice methods. I followed his guidance and felt like I was learning a lot. I plan to continue exploring my own music and practicing based on his teachings.

What made you decide to become a musician? Was there a particular performance or person that influenced your decision?

When I was younger, I was the most talented musician among my friends, so I enjoyed being recognized. However, now I want to be a colleague to people who love and enjoy music, and I’m still working on that. My family, friends, teachers, audiences, and the people I’ve met while playing bass have all been my motivation.

What is your proudest achievement as a musician?

When I greet audiences after performances and see their happy expressions and smiles. Especially when I have performed at hospitals or nursing homes, I was proud because it felt like I was Santa bringing them a small event.

What do you wish you knew starting out that you know now?

Don’t worry about what others think. Challenge yourself to pursue what you want, be grateful for opportunities, and enjoy the journey.
