Part of the 2022 China Now Music Festival: East of West
Presented by the US-China Music Institute of the Bard College Conservatory of Music

The 2022 China Now Music Festival challenges notions of what it means to present music from the ‘East’ or the ‘West’ with musical programs that highlight historic and contemporary intersections between China and the West in classical music. Tales From Beijing is the first of three festival concerts in New York City during the 2022 Season. Conductor Jindong Cai presents a program of operatic and symphonic music with stories from the streets, alleyways, and majestic outskirts of Beijing. The Orchestra Now and guests will perform a program of works by Ye Xiaogang, Guo Wenjing, and Aaron Avshalomov.

China Now Music Festival

The US-China Music Institute of the Bard College Conservatory of Music and the Central Conservatory of Music, China, present the 2022 China Now Music Festival, “East of West”, in celebration of our first five years of partnership and collaboration. This year’s festival features five major symphonic and operatic concerts held in New York City and in Upstate New York. Exciting new and rarely heard musical selections highlight the cross-currents between China and the West, both in contemporary classical music and in artistic movements of the recent past.
