The day will feature a one-of-a-kind concert with Ms. Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton, alongside The Orchestra Now conducted by James Bagwell, and a rare performance of Béla Bartók’s The Wooden Prince, conducted by Leon Botstein. The concert will be preceded by a groundbreaking for the new Maya Lin-designed performing arts studio building and a private reception.
Perfoming Arts Studio Building
Home to Bard’s Fisher Center LAB program, the new 25,000-square-foot laboratory will serve students and professionals in the performing arts with state-of-the-art studios for residencies, performances, workshops, and dance and theater classes, connected by two community gathering hubs. Covered by a sloping, grass-covered roof and responding to the Hudson Valley landscape, the spiral-shaped construction will appear to emerge from the meadow, encircling a grassy courtyard for outdoor convenings. Once completed, the new building will expand the Fisher Center’s footprint beyond the walls of Gehry’s stunning landmark to become a cultural campus that comprises both the Gehry and Lin buildings.
