Clara Schumann née Wieck began writing her memorable and sunny Piano Concerto when she was just 14 years old, already a prodigy on the instrument. This virtuoso work will be performed by acclaimed pianist Anna Polonsky. Later in life, Schumann was close friends with Johannes Brahms. She said his German Requiem had a “deeply moving and soothing effect,” adding, “It is an immense piece that takes hold of one’s whole being like very little else.”
